Tīkapa Moana Youth Explorer challenges all students between 14-18 years of age to find the grit and determination to succeed. The first two nights will be spent sailing on either Lion New Zealand, or Steinlager 2. Everyone can learn to sail the boats, read the weather, help with the meal preparation and sleep onboard.
The next two nights will be spent on the water with Auckland Sea Kayaks, where students will learn how to kayak and camp in tents in a safe, fun and supportive environment
They will dig deep to find ways to collaborate and complete both individual and shared goals. They will learn new life skills, forge friendships and know that the experience has been truly life changing.
All sailing, kayak and camping equipment, food and professional guides are provided. This programme also meets the requirements the Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award.
