How was Auckland for Kids started?
I am Carol Gernhoefer and live with my family in Auckland, New Zealand. I’m Mum to two wonderful girls who adore art, hip-hop, exploring, theatre, sports and having fun. I used to spend a lot of time finding fun things for my own kids to do. Friends would always ask how did you find out about that? So, I started Auckland for Kids, to make it easier for families to be able to go to one resource to find all the fun things to do in Auckland with their children, tweens and teenagers!
Who is the team at Auckland for Kids?
Auckland for Kids is written and curated by myself, and is a small family owned New Zealand business. I’m a chartered accountant turned entrepreneur and love to help families have more fun together in Auckland. I believe in giving back to the community and am on the board of Rare Disorders NZ and was previously on the boards of Auckland Museum and Stardome Observatory & Planetarium. My family which includes my husband and two daughters always give me their honest opinions on the events and places we visit in the weekends and school holidays so we can share them with you.
And of course there is you, Auckland parents and families who contribute articles to Auckland for Kids, or just let us know that a kid-friendly restaurant has opened (or closed) or there is a new playground that we should check out to share with other Auckland parents.
